Together, we build healthy communities

Working together, side by side.

Volunteers are the heart of Habitat.

We have a variety of ways you can help as a volunteer to help build strength, stability, and self reliance — and they don't all involve a hammer! When you volunteer with Umpqua Valley Habitat, you are joining dozens of like-minded individuals who have dedicated thousands of hours to our community. Everyone deserves a safe and decent place to live and volunteers help make that happen.

Wanting to volunteer as a group? We can accommodate large groups with advance notice. Please send an email to volunteer@umpquavalleyhabitat.org to discuss.

Ways to Volunteer

Our volunteers come in all skill sets and skill levels. No experience is required for any of our volunteer opportunities.

Construction & Repair

Want to help construct new, affordable homes in our community? We also often do repairs for seniors and those with disabilities to help them age in place so they can stay in the homes they know and love.

ReStore

Help out at our ReStore. We are always looking for help with pickups and deliveries and around the store keeping things orderly and organized or interacting with customers.

Administrative Office & Events

Our administrative offices often need help with data entry, marketing, filing, and more. If you are a social person, we often need help with events and outreach.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Construction & Repair

We are currently building the first 2 of 6 homes at our new housing development, Twin Oaks, in Riddle. Our crew is currently building on Thursday & Fridays. If you are interested in joining our construction crew, please sign up to volunteer and complete the required safety trainings prior to signing up for your first shift. The safety training can be found in the volunteer portal. If you have any difficulties, please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@umpquavalleyhabitat.org.

Please note that if you are a family member wanting to volunteer hours for one of our current homeowners, we have other days available to volunteer with us. Please reach out to us with any questions.

Donation Ambassador Assistant

At our ReStore, our staff often need assistance with picking up donations and making deliveries. This role requires you to be able to lift at least 50lbs, follow staff instruction, and interact with customers while at their home. Currently, we need help Tuesday-Thursday with the possibility of Friday. Shifts have varying starts based on the number of stops scheduled but they usually run from late morning to mid-afternoon. With this opportunity, you can choose to volunteer once a month, once a week, or as often as you would like. If you are interested in helping pickup donations, please either stop by ReStore or send an email to restoreinfo@umpquavalleyhabitat.org.

Donation Processing Assistant

Processing donations at our ReStore is an critical part of our operations. We try hard to keep the store full of new items to keep customers coming back and you can help make that happen by helping us process incoming donations. In this role, you can expect to test equipment and appliances to ensure that they are operable, inspect items from stains or damage, clean items to make them presentable for resale, and assist with pricing items once they are ready to be sold. It would be beneficial if you could lift more than 50lbs, but not a requirement. This opportunity can be done anytime that we are open and there is no long term commitment. If you are interested in helping process donations, please either stop by ReStore or send an email to restoreinfo@umpquavalleyhabiat.org.

Outreach Ambassador - Umpqua Valley Farmers Market

We have been approved to have a booth from time to time at the Umpqua Valley Farmer's Market on Saturday's in Downtown Roseburg. In this role, you can expect to interact with the public, informing them about our services, recruiting potential volunteers, and providing information about donating items to our ReStore. The Farmer's Market has a limited number of spaces available for nonprofits so we do not anticipate going every week, but we are hoping to find 1-2 people who can commit to going roughly once per month and we can work with your schedule on which Saturday's you attend. We will provide you with all the necessary supplies to set up a booth at the event. If this is something you are interested in, please send an email to our Administrative Assistant at admin@umpquavalleyhabitat.org.

Outreach Ambassador - General

Are you great at talking with the public? Do you have a wide network? We need you! Performing regular outreach is an incredibly vital part of being able to create more affordable homes for families who need safe and affordable housing. You can help make that happen by attending community events and talking about what we do, how they can help, and the services that we can provide. If you are available to attend periodic community events that we have a booth for, please let us know! We would love to have you. Sign up to volunteer and pay attention to our weekly Habitat Happenings email for upcoming opportunities or send an email to admin@umpquavalleyhabitat.org.
